Illimani is, almost without a doubt, the best known peak in Bolivia. This venerated mountain is directly linked to the personality of the city of La Paz, the capital of Bolivia. Dominating the background from a busy indigenous market or competing with the buildings of the city in size, Illimani is so present in the soul of the city that its inhabitants made it its emblem. In 1934, the Nazis did not make a mistake when choosing the summit as the strategic point to place the flag with the swastika in order to provoke the Bolivian Jewish community. Only a few days later, an Englishman decided to climb the mountain to remove the offensive item...

Day 1: LA PAZ - PINAYA - BROKEN BRIDGE (4550 masl)

Departure at 8:00 a.m. in private transport to the village of Pinaya (3h30), last village at the foot of snowy Illimani (3900 m.a.s.l.) Meet with our team of porters and trek to the base camp at Puente Roto. This is the point from which we will begin the ascent of Illimani (3h)

Lunch. Camping. All included.

Day 2 : ASCENT OF ILLIMANI (5450 m.a.s.l.)

Grade II/AD, Max 50º - with mountain guide

Equipment check. From Puente Roto, ascent to snow-bound Nido de Cóndores (Condors Nest - 5450 m.a.s.l.). Approximately 5 hours walk up a shaly, steep hillside.

Cold lunch. Camping. All included.

Day 3 : ASCENT OF ILLIMANI (6450 m.a.s.l.)

Very early in the morning we begin our tentative ascent to the summit (approximately 7h) A 4 hour descent to Nido de Cóndores or, depending on the time, we will continue to the base camp at Puente Roto.

 Lunch. Camping. All included.

Day 4: BROKEN BRIDGE - LA PAZ

Return to La Paz in private transport (2h) Afternoon free.
