The town of Samaipata ("altitude rest" in Quechua) is located 120 km west of Santa Cruz, in a sub-Andean environment (1650 m alt.).
The Inca archaeological site known as "El Fuerte" was the most advanced outpost of the Inca Empire and marked its borders in the lowlands until its fall.
It represented the administrative centre of the empire, responsible for ensuring compliance with the Inca's orders in the region. Its main function, however, was to contain the frequent attempts of incursion by the Guarani Indians.
This impregnable bastion offers us, among other things, curiosities such as the largest carved stone in the world.
We leave the hotel at 8:00 in a private vehicle towards Samaipata (2h).
Visit to the Inca fortress and return to Santa Cruz.
Free lunch and dinner. Hotel.
Note: Samaipata is the cultural center of the eastern valleys and the ideal starting point for excursions to Amboró National Park.
