Module: Amazonia

Duration: 4 days

Period: From April to November

Private service

Rurrenabaque, the gateway to the Beni region, at the foot of the Pilón Lajas and Madidi mountain ranges, is also the starting point for excursions and stays in the jungle or on the Amazonian pampas. This module takes us to the Bala camp, located on the Yacuma River. This recently built eco-refuge offers all the comforts (mosquito nets, toilets and showers) necessary for the place, which makes it the best and most comfortable in the area. Indeed, it is located in the heart of a pampa where animals and plants abound. The excursions will be carried out in the company of local guides, who are perfectly knowledgeable about an environment that allows us to get to know without any risk. Ideal for discovering the nature of the Amazon.

Day 1: LA PAZ - RURRENABAQUE

Departure from the hotel in private transport to the airport (morning or afternoon, depending on the day of the week). Flight La Paz - Rurrenabaque (1h - varies depending on the day of the week). Reception at Rurrenabaque airport and transfer to the hotel.

The end of the day is free in the capital of Beni. Lunch and dinner are free. Hotel.

Note: the La Paz - Rurrenabaque flight is not accompanied.

Day 2: RURRENABAQUE – BALA CAMP

Departure from the hotel at 09:00 in a private 4x4. After about two and a half hours of driving (depending on the road conditions), passing through the town of Santa Rosa, we arrive at the Bala camp, on the banks of the Yucuma River. In the afternoon, motorboat excursion to observe a multitude of animals. Among others: several species of birds (toucans, parrots, capybaras, kingfishers, marabous, grey herons and other wading birds... etc.), freshwater turtles, alligators, monkeys (howlers, whistlers, chichilos), etc.

Return to camp in the late afternoon, dinner, then evening stroll to discover the nightlife. Lunch at midday. All included. Overnight stay in the eco-lodge.

Day 3: BALA CAMP

In the morning, we walk along the trails in the area in search of the sicuri, the famous anaconda that can grow up to 12 meters long and live for a hundred years. This walk also allows us to observe capihuaras (the largest rodents in the world), tapirs or anteaters (with luck), and discover medicinal plants, still used by the inhabitants of the region. In the afternoon, another excursion by canoe or motorboat. On the way back to camp, we can certainly take a bath in the Yacuma River in the company of bufeos, pink dolphins that abound in almost all the waterways of the great Amazon basin. Cold lunch at midday. All included. We spend the night in the eco-lodge.

Day 4: BALA CAMP - RURRENABAQUE - LA PAZ

Return by 4x4 to Rurrenabaque. On the way we make a stop at the edge of a lagoon, and with the help of light fishing rods, we will try to catch piranhas or bentons, small carnivorous fish that can be hunted in the lagoons after the rainy season.

Transfer to the airport, and then return flight to Rurrenabaque - La Paz in the afternoon.

Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. End of the day at leisure.
