Module: Trek and 4x4 Expedition

Duration: 4 days

Period: All year round

Private service

This module offers a walking tour of Sajama National Park, one of Bolivia's natural gems.

We will encounter abundant and varied fauna surrounded by a unique setting made up of majestic volcanoes, hot springs, geysers and lost communities where life runs at the slow pace of a llama's walk...

Day 1: LA PAZ – TREK - TOMARAPI

Departure from the hotel at 09:00 in a private 4x4. We cross the high plateau until we reach the entrance to the Sajama National Park (approximately 4 hours). On the way, we discover the Caranga tombs known as chullpas. From the “El Viajero” guesthouse, our trek begins in the heart of the National Park populated by volcanoes (Sajama 6542 m alt. / Parinacota 6340 m alt. / Pomerape 6280 m alt.). The fauna is numerous and varied: alpacas, vicuñas and ostriches (if luck smiles on us). After 4 or 5 hours of walking, we arrive at Huyalilla, where our 4x4 awaits us to take us to the town of Tomarapi, famous for having a typically colonial church.

Cold lunch at midday. All inclusive. Night at the new Tomarapi refuge (comfort of a 2-star hotel).

Note: During the hike, backpacks will be carried by the vehicle accompanying us.

Day 2: TOMARAPI – TREK - HUAYNA KHOTA LAGOON – HOT SPRINGS

We leave Tomarapi to go around the eternal snows of the Sajama volcano. Halfway through the day, we arrive at Huaña Khota lagoon, a flamingo sanctuary. Two more hours of walking will take us to the hot springs at the foot of the Sajama volcano for a comforting bath…

Cold lunch at midday. All inclusive. Overnight in Sajama (limited comfort).

Day 3: HOT SPRINGS – GEYSERS - PARINACOTA

In the morning, we visit the geysers and then cross the Chilean-Bolivian border. Day trip in 4x4 through the Lauca National Park (Chile).

Lunar and magical landscapes populated by a still abundant and very particular fauna: viscachas, vicuñas, ibis, wild ducks and geese... A true photographic safari at more than 4000 meters above sea level.

Cold lunch at midday. All inclusive. Night in the home of a Parinacota resident (limited comfort).

Day 4: PARINACOTA – LAUCA – LA PAZ

A day trip in a 4x4 and on foot through the Lauca National Park (Chile). Lunar and magical landscapes populated by a still abundant and very particular fauna: viscachas, vicuñas, ibis, wild ducks and geese... A true photographic safari at more than 4000 meters above sea level.

We crossed the Bolivian-Chilean border in the late afternoon to reach the city of La Paz after approximately 4 hours of travel.
