This circuit takes you on foot to the Sajama National Park, one of the natural jewels of Bolivia and one of the most spectacular places to visit in this country.
Here, we will have the possibility of seeing typical specimens of the local fauna in their natural habitat. This a unique place surrounded by majestic volcanoes, hot springs, geysers and lost communities where life runs at the slow pace of a llama.
Day 1 : LA PAZ – TREK – TOMARAPI
Departure from hotel at 09:00 in private jeep. We cross the Altiplano before arriving at the entrance of the Sajama National Park (approximately 4h). Along the way we will see the Curangas’ tombs (chullpas), now empty after systematic robberies. Our 4WD drops us off at the pension “El Viajero” where we begin the trek into the heart of the National Park. We are surrounded by three volcanoes (Sajama 6542 m.a.s.l. / Parinacota 6340 m.a.s.l. / Pomerape 6280 m.a.s.l.); the fauna is numerous and varied: alpacas, vicuñas and ñandus (if we are lucky). After a 3 to 4 hours walk we arrive at Huaylilla where our vehicle wait for us to lead us to the historical village of Tomarapi, famous for its colonial church.
Lunch. All included. Lodging in the new “Albergue” of Tomarapi (comfort of a 2 stars hotel).
Note : During the walk, the backpacks will be carried by the vehicle accompanying us.
Day 2 : TOMARAPI – TREK - LAGUNA HUAYNA KHOTA – HOT SPRINGS
We leave Tomarapi to circle the eternal snows of volcano Sajama by the north. After a 3 hours walk we arrive at Huaña Khota lagoon, where the flamingos often join ducks and geese, owners of the place.
From there, it’s a two-hours walk more to reach hot springs, located at the foot of the volcano, for a well-deserved bath…

Day 3 : SAJAMA - CHILI - LAUCA - PARINACOTA
In the morning we cross the Bolivian-Chilean border. In private jeep we reach the Lauca National Park (Chili).
Lunar and magic landscapes inhabited by a very particular fauna: vizcachas, vicuñas, ibis, ducks and wild geese... A true photographic safari at more than 4000 meters.
Lunch. All included. Lodging in the house of a villager of Parinacota (rustic).
Day 4 : PARINACOTA – LA PAZ
In the morning, we return to La Paz (4/5 hours) via the little village of Curahuara de Carangas (colonial church with perfectly conserved paintings). Along the way we will see the Curangas’ tombs (chullpas), now empty after systematic robberies.
Afternoon Free.
Lunch (included). Dinner Free. Hotel.
