A circuit brings together the "unforgettable" of the Bolivian altiplano. Designed for the lovers of open spaces and the Andean heights. Expedition in jeep and, later on, the ascent to the highest volcanos in South Lípez: the Licancabur and the Tunupa, on the borders of the Uyuni Salt Flats (the biggest salt sea of the world). An expedition during which adventure and mystery blend together...

Day 1 : LA PAZ - UYUNI

Transfer to the La Paz bus station from where we will take the bus to Oruro (3h). In Oruro transfer to the railway station to board the Andean train (Expreso del Sur - first class) at approximately 15:30. We will cross the altiplano from north to south until reaching the village of Uyuni, very near to the Salt Flats (approximately 7h). Meet our team in Uyuni (unless train arrives at 2 a.m. on Sunday or Wednesday)

Day 2: UYUNI - SALT FLATS - JIRIRA

In the morning, departure to the Uyuni Salt Flats; the biggest in the world. From Jirira, at the foot of the Tunupa volcano (5400 m alt.), we will go to the village of Coquesa where we will discover Aymara tombs. From there, we will walk through the foothills of the volcano before reaching an exceptional view from the Mirador (4700 m.a.s.l.). We will need between 7 to 8 hours for the round-trip. Return to Jirira by the end of the afternoon.

Day 3: JIRIRA - SAN JUAN

We will cross the Salt Flats from north to south. Along the road, visit to the salt mines of Colchani and the salt hotels. We make a stop in the heart of the Salt Flats, the Incahuasi Island. This place, covered by estromalitos of volcanic origin, is also known as the Isla del Pescado (Fish Island). Possibility of a walk acroos a part of the enormous salt sea. We will pass through the community of Chuvica before reaching the community of San Juan (3/4h), the goal of the day.

Day 4: SAN JUAN - LAGUNA COLORADA - LAGUNA VERDE

We will leave San Juan in the morning and we will cross the Chiguana Salt Flats. From 3600 meters, the road ascends to approximately 4200 m.a.s.l. Skirting the Chilean border, we will pass by the foot of two important volcanos: Tomasamil (5900 m.a.s.l.) and Ollagüe (still active). Later on, we will descent to the south along the so-called "Route of Jewels": lagoons Cañapa, Hedionda, Honda y Ch'arkota, sanctuaries of 3 varieties of flamingos. The path continues through the magnificent landscapes of the Siloli desert before arriving to Laguna Colorada (the colored lagoon) in the afternoon. We will continue our trip to the geyser Sol de Mañana (4850 m.a.s.l.), a volcanic crater with gushes of vapors of sulfur and mineral waters. Later on, we skirt the Salted lagoon before crossing Dali's desert (called like this because of the landscapes that remind us one of the master's paintings). Later on, we will arrive to Laguna Verde (at the foot of Licancabur volcano - 5900 m.a.s.l.)

Day 5 : ASCENT OF THE LICANCABUR (5900 m.a.s.l.)

Early in the morning we begin our tentative ascent of Licancabur volcano. After that, a descent of 4 hours until Nido de Cóndores or to the base camp at Puente Roto, depending on the time.

Cold lunch. Camping. All included.

Day 6: GREEN LAGOON - ALOTA

Trip to the community of Alota. Along the road, visit to the Rocks Valley (strange formations of volcanic eruptions)

Cold lunch. Night in the house of a villager in Alota (limited comfort) All included.

Day 7 : ALOTA - UYUNI

In the morning, departure to Uyuni. Visit to Río Grande, an area populated by vicuñas and ñandus (members of the ostrich family). Arrival to Uyuni at the beginning of the afternoon. If the schedule allows us, visit to the "Train Cemetery", on the outskirts of the village.
