Short, arduous and magnificent, this trek offers impressive views of the Andean peaks. Our ascent takes us to Laguna Glacier (5038 m.a.s.l.). There, we can ponder the beauty of the landscapes and the glacier literally falling into the lagoon. Abundant fauna and the possibility of spotting the masters of the heights; condors.
Day 1 : LA PAZ - SORATA
Departure in the morning in private jeep to the village of Sorata, a beautiful village located in Los Yungas (2700 m.a.s.l.), in the foothills of Illampu (6400 m.a.s.l.) Approximately 3 hours.
In the afternoon, a walk to San Pedro's caves (4/5h round-trip)
Hotel.
Day 2 : Sorata - Laguna Chilata (4200 masl)
Difficulty : altitude trek. 5 to 7 hours walk per day. Good physical condition is required
In the morning, meet with our team of porters. From Sorata, we begin our trek ascending the hillsides of Illampu. After 5 or 6 hours walking along paths traversed by llamas, we arrive at Laguna Chilata.
Cold lunch. Camping. All included.
Day 3 : LAGUNA CHILATA - LAGUNA GLACIAR (5038 masl) - LAGUNA CHILATA
We begin early in order to attempt the ascent to Laguna Glaciar (its name is taken from the glacier that literally falls on its rivera - 4/5h). Magnificent view of Lake Titicaca, the valley of Sorata and the Andes... The effort is worthwhile.
In the afternoon, descent to our camp based in the vicinities of Laguna Chilata.
Cold lunch. Camping. All included.
Day 4 : LAGUNA CHILATA - SORATA - LA PAZ
Descent to Sorata in the morning. Return to La Paz by local bus in the afternoon.
